There is a huge swamp, plants around it are made of purple translucent crystals that grows and dies simultaneously.
Legends says this swamp is guarded by giant made of kelp and crysalis.
Every millennium this swam gives birth to a creature.
A creature that both resembles a man and a woman. It can’t be defined.
The giant guides and cares for this creature. He is that caretaker.They also say that this swamp is the uterus of the universal fertility goddess of pearls.
She is the one that takes all the rituals of all the other four gods that lives in a different dimension.
This swamp is the portal that connects the astral world and the mortal world.
This creature that is born needs to live and travel the mortal world to observe humanity and to learn what humans needs from gods in this time.”
The impetus of working on ”Cosmological Gangbang“ is to decolonize oneself and to question heteronormative cultural and historical iconographies and ideologies that were implemented by west in the Philippines, but also all colonised nation. It takes as a starting point the Filipino pre-colonial identity which is fluid and doesn’t conform to binary representation, as is the case in many other pre- colonial societies. The main inspiration of this work is referencing spiritual backgrounds in Philippine society, and precolonial gender belief systems passed down through generational oral knowledge. To be able to transfigure this local experience to a much more global consciousness. The work hopes to rewrite history and speculate a possible future, by fantasising through the transformation of our physical selves embodying gods and goddesses. A societal reimagining and empowerment for the entirety of the Global South and brown bodies.
Together with my collaborators and performers, Bunny Cadag and Lukresia. Both Filipina woman in different stages in their transhood. We would like to create a ritual of shedding normative ideals of gender, shedding of our colonial history, a process of healing from generational trauma, a dance and ritual of decolonizing to be able to find our own ancestral historical body.
I wanted to create this new world, this new cosmology in which together with my collaborators I would like to design three different goddesses coming from different portals. Portals that leads to different environments and dimensions where these goddesses are living and coming from. A place where life is created and comes out. These entities are powerful enough to give life, balance life, and end life
These three godesses coming from different worlds who sustain and maintain their specific realm and take care specific conditions. One as the Uling the light and dark. The all reflection of oneself (Talu), and Void or the emptiness.
These three goddessess would soon give a ritual that comes in a form of, dance, song, text, and nothingness as offering to the pearl mother. Hence the Gangbang, a Gangbang of rituals. The mother pearl who is the central force will soon then gather all of these practices to be able to procreate the new god coming from other gods. This new creature, this new goddess will soon then need to live in the mortal world to better understand what humanity needs from a gods and goddesses in our contemporary times.
In this work I would like to emphasise the idea that the queers in the contemporary times are the modern day shamans. The same status the Babaylans have taken in pre-colonial Philippines. But also in relation to all indigenous communities. That non-binarity is a norm, that we all can become who we want to be. This work hopes to find its way to our ancestral body, our rooted identity, that we all came from nature, that we are queer ecology: that the earth is our source of knowledge
